Singer-songwriter Lily Lyons has released her new single Spinning Sides, in association with Fiction Records, her second single to be released with the label.
Spinning Sides is an appropriate follow-up to her first single with the label, Spectre, staying true to her stripped-back style, elegant voice, and perceptive lyrics.
Lyons deals with everyday issues in her music, making it highly accessible to most. Commenting on the release of Spinning Sides a representative for Fiction Records says “Lily Lyons searches for truth in her music, exploring simple things that are easily forgotten – not revolutionary, but the everyday beauty and tragedy of relationships.”
In explaining the meaning behind the song Lyons said, “Spinning Sides is a song about how change isn’t always easy to see when it’s happening, and then all of a sudden you find yourself where you were always wanting to go.”
You can watch a live performance of the single, filmed in Paris below:
Lyons built a following last year, supporting Tiny Ruins on their UK tour and will be continuing to build her profile this spring as she joins Dan Mangan on his extensive tour of Europe. All this following her recent standout performances at Sofar Sounds and The Chapel at St Barnabas, as well as festival slots at Mutations Festival, Golden Slippers, and Celtic Connections.
