With the sales already kicking into high gear, there’s more than just bargains to be excited about this Black Friday. Thanks to a stellar drop of Record Store Day exclusives coming to an indie store near you on November 28th!
Usually the reserve of classic rock anoraks and collectors padding out there extensive collection of Japan remixes. This years RSD Black Friday list has some real gems hidden away for pop fans to sink their teeth into. So we’ve put together our top five releases from this years list.
1. Benson Boone – Pulse
With his UK arena run having just come to a close. American Idol alumni, Benson Boone has thrown his hat into the ring in a big way for this years RSD Black Friday. Releasing his second EP, Pulse on vinyl for the first time ever!
With 6000 copies pressed, it’s not the most limited release. Between the hype and the gorgeous sky blue and yellow splatter vinyl though, we think this is going to be one of Black Fridays heaviest hitters. So make sure you bag yours on the day to make sure you don’t end up at the mercy of eBay resellers.
2. Billie Eilish – Birds of a Feather
Having been suspiciously absent from this years main RSD list. Pop sensation Billie Eilish has a nice little surprise for her fans lined up for Black Friday this year. With another release making its way to physical media for the first time.
Taken from her appearance as part of Amazons Songline series. The 10″ EP featuring live performances of Skinny, Wildflower, Birds of a Feather and L’amour De Ma Vie might only be on plain black wax. However, we think its one that hardcore fans will definitely want to add to their collections this November!
3. Chappell Roan – The Subway/The Giver
No RSD list would be complete without a cheeky 7″ single and this years release from Chappel Roan fits the bill perfectly. Packing a tear jerking A-side in the form of The Subway. Backed up by the camp country vibes of The Giver on its B-side.
There are no pressing details available for this release. We expect it to be limited to less than 10,000 copies though. Which, given Roan’s meteoric rise to the stratosphere over the past few years, seems like nowhere near enough!
4. Icona Pop – I Love it ft Charli XCX
Long before brat summer began, Icona Pop and Charlie XCX decimated the pop charts with the instantly recognisable hit, I Love It. Now over a decade old and having long since surpassed a million streams. The single is finally getting the love it deserves this year thanks to Record Store Day.
Pressed on glow in the dark 12″ vinyl and featuring some amazing remixes from the likes of Tiesto. This release is guaranteed to teleport you back to 2010 with just one spin!
5. Kesha – Holiday Road
For those out there wanting to get into the Christmas spirit a little early, Kesha has you covered this Black Friday. Thanks to her release of Holiday Road on 7″ cosmic mistletoe vinyl. Originally recorded as part of Spotify’s Singles collection. The Lindsey Buckingham cover made some serious waves in the charts last year. Rising even higher on the Billboard than the original.
If you have jingle bells on the brain, the B-side featuring a previously unreleased version of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas is the perfect icing on the festive cake too!
