After a whirlwind year for the musician, Doja Cat has released her latest track Vegas which is part of the soundtrack for upcoming biopic ELVIS.

The film, directed by Baz Luhrmann, starring Austin Butler and Tom Hanks is set to be released at the same time as the accompanying soundtrack on June 24th.

Rapper, record-producer and songwriter Doja Cat has seen an abundance of success and glowing reviews for her 2021 album Planet Her, including taking home the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album back in April.

Since then, Doja Cat performed at the infamous Coachella Festival where she also debuted the song before its release. Vegas received positive feedback from this performance and UPROXX reviewed that “we’ve definitely seen all the evidence we need to say that Doja should have headlined Coachella 2022”

Doja Cat was an obvious choice for the soundtrack that is so central to the film due to her stunning talent and creativity. Vegas incorporates Doja’s usual and signature style musically whilst sampling parts of the 1956 Elvis cover of Big Mama Thornton’s Hound Dog. She has added her own touch whilst honouring the work and talent of a true icon.

The soundtrack will also feature other artist’s takes on the biggest Elvis Presley songs including Måneskin’s If I Can Dream.
