Irish alt pop artist Brooke has won her spot to represent Ireland at Eurovision 2022.
She secured her spot after a show stopping performance of song That’s Rich on RTE’s Late Late Show Eurosong Special.
Brooke first rose to fame as a finalist of The Voice 2020, duetting with Ella Eyre and being mentored by Grammy award-winning coach and singer Meghan Trainor.
The single That’s Rich is inspired heavily by Blondie and The Gossip. It’s an empowering track, narrating how you should never settle for anyone who doesn’t fulfil your needs. The song shows off Brooke’s powerful vocal range whilst oozing energy and sass. The lively, memorable track is perfect for the Eurovision stage and we can’t wait to see her perform!
Brooke was one of six finalists competing to become Ireland’s representative for the contest. In a win that was decided by the studio, international jury and public televote points, Brooke received an impressive 78% of all possible points.
About the song, Brooke comments “I was reading Debbie Harry’s autobiography and wanted to encapsulate the attitude she portrayed in her life.”
Aside from making waves at Eurovision, Brooke’s music has also received acclaim from the likes of BBC Introducing, as well as numerous Spotify editorial playlists including New Music Friday and New Pop UK. 2022 is set to be an exciting year for the rising star.
This year’s Eurovision contest will take place in Turin in May.
That’s Rich is out now and you can listen on your preferred streaming platform.
